Coral Àláfíà: a community-based all female vocal group
Since its beginning in 2013, A Night of Àláfíà has been a cherished cultural tradition in Southern California, blending the rhythms of Brazil with a spirit of community, empowerment, and joy. What started as a small choir project has grown into one of the most anticipated annual benefit concerts, showcasing Brazilian music and culture while supporting meaningful causes.
This year, the Inner Empowerment Center proudly presents A Night of Àláfíà 2025 – a beautiful evening of Brazilian music, food, and community. The concert will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2025, starting 7.30pm, and promises to be a night to remember. Doors open at 6.30pm and Brazilian food and appertizers will be available.
The Music
The event will be headlined by the incomparable Kana Shimanuki — singer, songwriter, and music director of the Àláfíà Vocal Group since its founding. Known for her captivating and heart-warming voice, Kana draws listeners into her musical storytelling and creates an atmosphere that connects both heart and soul. Joining Kana on stage will be the beloved Coral Àláfíà, a community-based vocal group that has brought together people of all ages and backgrounds to sing, grow, and share in the joy of music.
The evening will also feature special guests singers/musicians Sonia Santos, Rogê, Emina Shimanuki, Natalia Spadini and Camila Soriano plus Afro-Brazilian percussion group Obini. The band formed by talented Brazilian musicians residing in Southern California will be formed by Wesley Amorim (Guitar), Clarice Cast (Percussion), Mika Mutti (keys), Leo Nobre (bass), and Felipe Fraga (drums). Together, they will perform a mix of original compositions and Brazilian classics, honoring the country’s rich musical traditions.

- Tickets – Advance tickets are available online until September 27 at noon. After that, tickets can be purchased at the box office for $30. Tickets are non-refundable.
