(Sun, April 26, 12.30pm) The Carol Bach-Y-Rita featuring Larry Koonse, Trey Henry & Brazilian drummer Ana Barreiro at Birds of Feather Jazz Lounge. Carol-Bach-y-Rita will thrill you with her unique brand of Brazilian BeBop as she reinterprets the American Song Book in innovative ways! From the best of the American Songbook, through the gorgeous music of Brazil and the Americas, she delights in unusual duet pairings of voice with drums or bass, mixing and matching languages, rhythms, instrumental groupings. English, Spanish, and Portuguese are all in the mix, along with spontaneous flights of pure improvisation.

Catina and Otmaro present a beautiful selection of Brazilian repertoire featuring A+ LA Session Players. LADO B Brazilian Project breaks the notion of Brazilian repertoire beyond the Carnival and Festive Stereotypes. Focusing on some of the most elegant and moving compositions spanning from the early 20th Century to the present, the band travels through true rare gems of Brazilian music history, as well as boldly arranged new renditions of iconic themes by the unique pianist and producer Otmaro Ruiz, bringing a wide set of modern Brazilian Jazz. (Fri & Sat, May 8 & 9) Made in Brasil, Solo Works at Highways Performance Space, Santa Monica. A sharp, vibrant, and contemporary showcase of Brazilian theatrical talent in Los Angeles. Created by Brazilian artist Leopold Numan the project spotlights Brazilian writers, actors and creators through a bold mix of monologues, hybrid performances, and theatrical experimentation. The production has Bia Oliveira and Andrea Oliveira on the team, and for them, it is not just a showcase but a cultural declaration. (Sun, Nov 8 at 11am) Formula 1, Brazilian Grand Prix Live at Trademark Brewing in Long Beach. For those fanatics of auto racing, watch the Brazilian Ground Prix with SOUND ON. Doors open one hour before the green flag. Outside food is welcome, however outside beverages are not permitted. Pitchers of beer are available during the race, TVs everywhere! Family friendly and free parking is available with 100+ spaces.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA FREE SUMMER SERIES – MUSIC, DANCE AND FILM
Every Summer one of the greatest things in California is the Free Outdoor and Indoor Music Series in different venues/locations in the golden state – live music and dance FREE to the public is offered during the whole summer every year. Here bellow we cover mostly of these events in Southern California – or at least the best ones!
The Summer Sessions Free Outdoor Concert at the Getty Center in L.A – Each year the series presents a diverse lineup of musical talents, many of whom mix and match musical traditions and genres. The series showcased a myriad of musical styles, from hip-hop, blues, and rock, to Latin boogaloo, Afro-Peruvian jazz, Mexican cabaret, merengue, electronic beats, Indian rhythms, and even Algerian trance music. All concerts are free and no reservations are needed. Concerts take place from 6:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. at the J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Center. www.getty.edu
Summer Series Culver City Music Festival – The Culver City re-development agency and the City of Culver City Presents every year the Annual Culver City Summer Sunset Music Festival. Listen to a mix of Jazz, Samba, Bluegrass, 60’s Rock and World Music at the Culver City Hall Courtyard. Summer Series at Fisherman’s Village – Located in beautiful Marina Del Rey in L.A area, Fisherman’s Village offers Saturday concerts from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. Summer Series at Burton Chace Park – The Free Marina del Rey Summer Concerts are held in a beautiful waterside setting at Burton Chace Park. The series features Thursday evening classical concerts showcasing the Marina del Rey Summer Symphony, with Frank Fetta, conductor and guest soloists. On alternate weeks, Saturday pop concerts star celebrated musical entertainers. You are welcome to bring a picnic basket full of your favorite foods! Summer Series at Pershing Square – Pershing Square is an outdoor concert and event center located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. It hosts an array of free programs for the downtown community such as Swingin’ Wednesday, Lunchtime Concerts and Salsa Sundays. Summer Series at Levitt Pavilion – Stretch out on cool grass on a warm summer evening, gaze up at the stars and listen to an amazing kaleidoscope of music in the peaceful setting of Memorial Park in Old Pasadena. Summer Series at Japanese American National Museum – Located in Little Tokyo near Downtown Los Angeles, the Japanese American National Museum is proud to present the 1st & Central Summer Concerts. Summer Series at California Plaza – Grand Performances presents free performing arts that reflect the best of global culture and inspire community among the diverse peoples of Los Angeles. The Summer Series at Los Angeles County Museum of Art – LACMA, have admission-free jazz concerts that are presented on the Los Angeles Times Central Court usually between 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. These events feature the art of jazz as practiced by outstanding jazz artists from Los Angeles and elsewhere. Summer Series at Hollywood & Highland – Hollywood and Highland presents Wine & Jazz Tuesdays in the Central Courtyard. City of Beverly Hills “Summer Nights” – The city of Beverlly Hills offer the Concerts on Canon summer season which kicks off in 2024 with Pride Night! Pride Night featured artists Boyish and Yancyabril are from Music Forward Foundation’s LGBTQ+ Emerging Artists Award program. City of Hermosa Beach Sunset Concerts – The Hermosa Beach Concert Series will debut in 2024, repositioning the City’s 25-year tradition of free concerts on the beach.
