On my last backpacking trip through Brazil, before heading north to the Brazilian Northeast, I made a meaningful stop in Brasília, where I reunited with an old friend, Andrea.
After a couple of days exploring the capital, Andrea, her two daughters, and I set out on a road trip to discover one of Brazil’s most charming and lesser-known destinations: Pirenópolis.
Located about 150 km (93 miles) from Brasília and 120 km (75 miles) from Goiânia, Pirenópolis is a beautifully preserved colonial town surrounded by mountains, rivers, and an impressive concentration of waterfalls.
