Growing up in the northeast of Brazil, Mika was always musical, picking up the guitar at 6 years old and the piano at 12. Being self taught, he developed his language on mixing the acoustic instruments with electronic music, combining many years of playing traditional percussion instruments with modern digital controllers.
Known as a top producer and arranger in Brazil, Mika´s worked with Brazilian and international artists including Heavy Metal band Scorpions (incorporating Brazilian percussion for their acoustic project), Carlos Santana, John Legend, Common, Jamie Foxx, Will I Am, Ana Carolina, Seu Jorge, Milton Nascimento, Gilberto Gil, and Hermeto Pascoal among others.
He was the arranger, co-producer and musician of Sergio Mendes album called “Bom Tempo”. The album won the Latin Grammy Award for Best Portuguese Language Contemporary Pop Album in 2010. He was also co-producer, composer, musician and arranger of the Grammy nominated Sergio Mendes album “Magic” in 2015. In 2011 Mika wrote, recorded, and co-produced songs for the animated film “Rio”.
In 2016 Mika was invited to co-produce the soundtrack for the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Rio, and to perform as a highlighted talented DJ. In 2020 he co-produced, arranged, and composed part of the Sergio Mendes album and documentary “In the Key of Joy”. His album “Pacific Feelings” is streaming on all platforms.
In his concert he plays guitar, piano and percussion through video game controllers and unusual digital instruments. Berimbau, cuica, pandeiro and the batucada sound real through his hands.
