Getting out for New Year’s Eve in the U.S can become one of the priciest dates of the year, especially if you have to pony up for a babysitter! But there are some options for the FREE fan in some of the biggest cities in America! In New York, New Year’s Eve at the Time Square, a symbolic center of New York City has become more than just a celebration – it’s a global tradition; in Las Vegas, you can walk around the Strip (Las Vegas Blvd) while waiting for the fireworks from different hotel/casinos, but what about Los Angeles?
A lot residents of the “city of angels” or Angelenos for years missed a spot or place where they can go with the family and friends without to have to pay a fee upfront. But Grand Park, most well-known for its food truck gatherings, lunchtime yoga sessions, and summertime concerts, promises to be one of the most family-friendly and affordable New Years’ Eve destinations in the city for the fourth year in a row (2020).
Flanked by the Music Center and City Hall, every inch of this three-block greenspace will be covered in culture, including City Hall, which will be used as a 22-story canvas for projections of photo-booth pics taken onsite, 3-D projections and a countdown. Crowds will rock steady to a soundtrack of DJ-driven tunes and live bands, and count down with a new, interactive countdown, featuring 3-D digital video mapping on two sides of City Hall.
After an overwhelmingly successful turnout at its inaugural night, the event was expanded to include nearby city streets, with enough space to accommodate 50,000 people! The event happens every December 31st and usually starts at 8pm at the Grand Park & The Music Center around the 200 North Grand Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90012.
