What began as a dream in Europe quickly became Vania’s worst nightmare

Vania “Samba” Marques has faced many challenges throughout her life, but from a very young age, she learned the value of hope, courage, and determination.

Born in Feira de Santana, Bahia, and raised in Paranavaí, Paraná, Vania displayed artistic talent early in life. As a child, she participated in fashion shows, sang in church choirs, and performed in small theatrical productions. Throughout her journey, she was fortunate to have the unwavering support of her family.

When a Dream Became a Nightmare

Not every chapter of Vania’s story was filled with joy.

Part of her past involved a tragic experience connected to the international trafficking of women, a subject that has often been portrayed in television dramas but, for Vania, became a painful reality.

After being deceived by a German man who promised her a brighter future in Europe, she left Brazil full of hope. However, upon arriving in Germany, she found herself trapped and isolated in his home for three months.

What began as a dream quickly turned into her worst nightmare.

A New Beginning in Germany

Everything changed when a Brazilian friend stepped in to help.

Thanks to this friend’s courage and support, Vania managed to escape and regain her freedom. She remains deeply grateful for the help that allowed her to rebuild her life.

Determined not to let the experience define her future, she focused on healing and rediscovering her passion for dance. Germany’s appreciation for Brazilian culture provided an opportunity for a fresh start.

Building a Career Through Samba

Vania’s exceptional talent soon attracted the attention of renowned Brazilian cultural groups, including Brazil Energia and Brazil Tropical.

Her performances led to her first European dance tour, introducing audiences across the continent to the energy and beauty of Brazilian samba.

After the tour, Vania opened a Brazilian restaurant in Berlin, which eventually evolved into a popular Show House and Lounge Bar, combining Brazilian cuisine with live entertainment.

Through her work, Vania helped spread Brazilian music, dance, and culture throughout Europe, earning respect as both an entrepreneur and performer.

Bringing Brazilian Culture to America

After spending 14 years in Europe, Vania moved to the United States with her husband, Feliph Schuch, a successful businessman.

Since 2004, she has operated Vania Samba Productions, a company dedicated to promoting Brazilian culture through samba performances, educational programs, and cultural events.

Beyond entertainment, her work has a strong social impact. Through free weekly concerts and workshops in Connecticut, Vania has helped bring joy, cultural awareness, and opportunities to children and families in need.

Her commitment to community service reflects a mission that extends far beyond the stage.

Carnival, Rio de Janeiro, and International Recognition

Every year during Carnival season, Vania returns to Brazil to participate in major events in Rio de Janeiro.

She is frequently invited to perform with the legendary samba school Grêmio Recreativo Escola de Samba Unidos de Vila Isabel at the iconic Sambódromo da Marquês de Sapucaí, one of the world’s most celebrated stages for samba and Carnival performances.

A Legacy Built on Courage

Despite experiencing one of life’s most devastating challenges, Vania Marques never allowed adversity to define her future.

Today, she enjoys a successful career, a loving family, and the respect of communities in both Europe and the United States.
