Christ the Redeemer – The “Cristo Redentor” is Rio’s most important hallmark. It’s considered one of the Seven-Wonders of the Modern World. Price to Visit/Access (2016): R$56-R$68
Sugar Loaf – The first cableway installed in Brazil and the third in the world. The cableway ride offers marvelous sceneries in a panoramic view. Price to Visit/Access (2016): R$76
Ipanema Beach and Arpoador – Birthday place of the famous song “Girl from Ipanema”, Ipanema beach is the perfect place to enjoy Rio beach culture! And the little Arpoador, located between Copacabana and Ipanema is the birthday place of surfing in Brazil. Expect an astonish sunset from here! Free.
Pedra Bonita – it’s a hidden gem, towering above the forest of Tijuca National Park and offering a bird’s eye view across the city. Standing at 2,283 feet, a famous and favorite take-off point for Hand Gliders. Free.
Museum of Modern Art – The architect Afonso Eduardo Reidy design a new headquarter on a 40,000 square/meters with a landscaping project by Burle Marx. The museum’s collection has over 6,000 items. A must for those interested in art! Price to Visit/Access (2016): R$14.
Santa Teresa Tram – The streets of Santa Teresa sizzle with art and the last of the few trams still operating in Brazil. It’s one of the oldest streets railway lines in the world and having been electrically powered since 1896! Price to Visit/Access (2016): Free (*But not confirmed).
Arch of Lapa and Bohemian Night Life – This neighborhood of Rio is famous for its historical monuments and nightlife. The “Arcos da Lapa” is an impressive aqueduct constructed in the mid-18th century by colonial authorities and since the early 1950s, the neighborhood has been known for its lively cultural life where there is a concentration of many restaurants and bars where Brazilian artists and intellectuals would meet. Museum of Tomorrow – Rio de Janeiro’s new museum, focusing on ideas rather than objects, ecology more than technology, is a little trip, a little hippy, very worthy but rarely dull. Price to Visit/Access (2016): R$10.
Botanical Gardens – This 137-hectare garden, with more than 8000 plants species, was designed by order of the Prince Regent Don Joao in 1808. Highlights of the visit include the row of Palms, plated when the garden first opened, the lake containing the huge Victoria Regia and the enclosed orquidário with 600 species of orchids. to Visit/Access (2016): R$10.
Municipal Theater – The beautiful and impressive building of this theatre was opening on July 14, 19909. It was considered as one of the most important theatres in South America. The names of classic Brazilian and European artists are inscribed on the walls. Price to Visit/Access (2016): R$10.
