The Hollywood Fringe Festival returns for its ninth year in Hollywood, June 7th – 24th, 2018. The event is the largest celebration of the performing arts on the West Coast. Approximately 2,000 performances will be presented in dozens of spaces throughout Central Hollywood.
This year a Brazilian Director and a Latin cast will brighten up the festival. “Paisaje Marino con tiburones y bailarina” was translated into Spanish from Don Nigro´s “Seascape with Sharks and Dancer”, produced by 3Marias Productions (Brazil), with the actress Gabriella Spacciari (Brazil) and Tomás Martic (Chile), directed by Lucas Paz (Brazil).
The project won the Hollywood Fringe Festival 2018 Scholarship for being a project that increases the ethnic and socioeconomic diversity of artists and audience. This play is willing to open up the vision of “latin culture” embracing the brazilian theater culture and alternative spanish songs.
The play: Ben, a lonely writer, fears to be alone. Tracy, a ballerina with no balance, fears to be loved. He can´t seem to take concrete actions towards his goals. She is always destroying everything she touches. This dance of care and insecurity, trust and vulnerability, staying and leaving, may be just that addictive cycle of killing and giving birth to our true selves – those never ending waves we are all afraid to live in. The world is full of sharks, isn´t it?
The Director, Lucas Paz, is an award winning Producer in United States known for his works on film, commercials, music videos and theatre. Director of “MoAciR: Children of Pain”, “Inrooted”, “Sigh”, “Sets Foot outside the House Door”, “Los Angeles”, “Love, Shoes and Death”, “Under Water: Dive Deep”, “Duplicitous”, “Erase Me”, Lucas had being involved as performer and director on over 60 theatre productions, including musicals and Operas like Rent, Aladdin, Dido and Aeneas and as a filmmaker on over 100 productions.
