The 19th NBFF will spotlight the film “Rust” followed a Gala Celebration of Latino film, food and culture on Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018 as part of the “Latino Showcase” that will also feature films of Mexico, Argentina and Chile.

The Los Angeles Tribute to Luiz Melodia will honor the memory of the legendary Brazilian singersongwriter Luiz Melodia, who passed away on August 4, 2017, with two cornerstone tribute concerts on Thursday, March 22 at 9 pm at The Blue Whale in downtown Los Angeles and Saturday, March 24 at 9 pm at Zebulon Café.

Twenty-five years ago, the San Diego Latino Film Festival (SDLFF) was born out of a desire to take a stand against the status-quo of cinema, to challenge the reigning and ever-present stereotypes about the Latino experience in movies, and to give Latino filmmakers the power of telling and sharing their stories, first-hand, about what it means to be Latino.
