The Brazilian Independence Day Celebration in San Francisco happened last September 16 with the Exhibition of “Brazilian Photographers on the West Coast”, at 1:00 pm, at International Center, and the concert “A Journey through 500 Years of Brazilian Music” at 1:30 at Koret Auditorium. Both events was held at San Francisco Public Library, 100 Larkin Street, San Francisco with the intention to celebrating the 185th anniversary of the Independence of Brazil. The Consulate General in San Francisco was proud to offer to their friends in California, with the invaluable collaboration of the San Francisco Public Library, a sample of music and images that reflect the beauty and soul of our country. A selection of 21 photographs by Brazilian artists living on the West Coast was illustrated Brazil’s geographic and socio-cultural diversity, shown through the photographers’ talent and originality. Also, we had the crafted presentation of Mauro Correa and an unique performance by Brazilian musicians showing music from its origins to contemporary days.
