Image Music Brazilian Drummer Eli Vasconcellos ESSECarioca and a native from Nova Iguacu, state of Rio, drummer and singer Elielson Vasconcelos started playing the drums at the age of 14 at the church he used to go with his family. He started playing professionally at the age of 21 when he recorded his first CD in 1994 with gospel musician Marcos Goes in Rio de Janeiro. From this time on he started to play for important names of Brazilian gospel music.

Eli moved out of state to the city of Goiânia, state of Goias in 2006 where he started to play for the best MPB singers of the Brazilian center-west region. He moved to Atlanta in the United States in 2015 and then in 2017 to Los Angeles where he had the chance to play in great venues and opened shows for legendary musicians and music groups such as Peter Beckett and Oingo Boingo. “L.A’s experience has been intense and here I had the opportunity to connect with so many talented musicians”, said Vasconcellos.

His greatest influences as a musician are Brazilians Carlos Bala and Serginho Herval (Brazilian Pop Music Roupa Nova) as well as Phil Collins, Chester Thompson, and Vinnie Colaiuta among others. He chose to live in L.A because he figured out he could have more opportunities in his musical career and because the city vibe is similar to Rio de Janeiro. “I really like the Southern California vibe! The music scene, the artists, the diversity, and the weather!”
