The festival will spotlight “Domingo” followed by an after-party, part of the Latino Showcase, a gala celebration that includes food and culture. The Newport Beach Film Festival is presented by Pacific Sales and is one of the leading lifestyle film festivals in the United States. The festival seeks to bring Orange County the best of contemporary filmmaking from over 50 countries all around the world and this year 2019 is celebrating its 20th year between April 25th and May 2nd. The Brazilian Spotlight takes place on Monday, April 29th .
The featuring film “Domingo” (Sunday) is set entirely on New Year’s Day 2003, and not only is it the first day of the year, but the first day of presidency for socialist Luiz Inacio Lula de Silva. As Lula and his supporters celebrate this memorable investiture, two middle-class families from Rio Grande and do Sul come together to disuss politics, life, family secrets and frustrations. The intimate drama is directed by Clara Linhart and Fellipe Barbosa and stars Italia Nadndi, Camila Morgado, Augusto Maderia and Martha Nowill.

The Latino Showcase (including the Brazilian) filmd will screen on Monday April 29th 2019, at The Triangle, located at 1870 Harbor Blvd. in Costa Mesa, CA 92627. The after-party will take place at Time Nightclub, located at 1875 Newport Blvd. B245 Costa Mesa, CA 92627. The evening will include several of Orange County’s top restaurants serving signature tastings, multiple DJs, live entertainment and hosted bar.
Admission to the Latino and Brazilian Spotlight film and post party is $45.00. After-Party only is $30.00 while the Film Screening only is $20.00.
