For Luana, happiness means living for herself and not for others

The youngest “Soul In Shape” featured in our magazine is a Brazilian born in the state of Rio Grande do Sul — the same region that gave the world supermodel Gisele Bündchen. Today, Luana lives in Mission Viejo, where she continues building a lifestyle centered on fitness, confidence and personal growth.

From Martial Arts to Weightlifting

As a child, Luana practiced Judo and Capoeira, eventually becoming a competitive Judo athlete. Although she no longer trains in martial arts, she has shifted her focus to weightlifting and fitness training.

“I was inspired to lift weights because I want to make my body more toned, muscular and stronger,” she says.

Her journey reflects a growing trend among young Brazilian women in the United States who embrace fitness as a form of discipline, empowerment and self-care.

A Philosophy of Happiness and Self-Respect

For Luana, happiness means being at peace with herself and living authentically.

She believes in living for herself rather than for others, avoiding judgment and criticism. Even at just eighteen years old (2016 interview reference), she expresses a mature view of life and independence.

Like many young adults, she enjoys going out with friends, dancing and wakeboarding — balancing discipline with fun and social life.

Career Dreams: Veterinary Medicine

Beyond fitness, Luana has a strong passion for animals and dreams of becoming a veterinarian. Her academic path includes starting at a community college and later transferring into a competitive veterinary medicine program.

Her goal is to specialize in avian medicine, focusing on bird care.

“I want to become an acclaimed veterinarian doctor,” she states.

Focused on Independence and the Future

Luana is clear about her priorities for the future.

“I’m too young and marriage is not on my priority list. I want to invest in my career, be single, travel and have fun for a long time.”

Her mindset reflects a generation of young Brazilians abroad who prioritize education, career building and personal freedom before long-term commitments.
