3The Brazilian community and lovers of Brazilian culture had the opportunity to celebrate the “Brazilian Day in San Diego” again this year, in a beautiful, hot and sunny day. The celebration that happened on Sunday, September 10, was held at Belmont Park located in Mission Beach in the parking lot by the side of the freewheel, and after eight years being held at Garnet Street on the iconic Pacific Beach.

The biggest Brazilian outdoor event of the U.S west coast is a free event for the whole community and attracted thousands of Brazilians and not Brazilians lovers of the Brazilian culture. This year, Brazil’s iconic pop star, singer, record producer, percussionist, two time Latin Grammy winner, and coach on The Voice Brazil and The Voice Kids Brazil was the main attraction. He did two performances on the stage, at the begging and before the end, pushing the crowd to dance tropicalia, reggae, and afro-Brazilian rhythms with “maestria”.

The event had the presence of local Brazilian artists such as Raggabond (San Diego) and their cool smooth reggae, Mariano Silva & Prakantar (Santa Barbara) and their energetic Afro-Brazilian rhythms, different samba dance groups from different cities such as Raiz Brazil and Sambamotion 14370049_1360361993991807_6561717523817469651_nfrom Los Angeles, master choreographer Slleik da Bahia, and DJ Renata Potira (Los Angeles) among other attractions.

Ronan Horta, the famous soap opera actor from Brazil, was the presenter and host for the Brazilian Day San Diego in 2016. For the first time, the event had a beer garden that was set up with view for the beach and a VIP lounge presented by Obrigado Coconut Water. This expertly organized party received all Brazilian culture lovers who celebrated Brazilian Independence Day with “Brazilian style”: energetic rhythms, exotic flavors and colorful environment…all under the authentic California summer atmosphere.
