The versatile Brazilian-American hip-hop singer-songwriter, and also a realtor, are based in Los Angeles and was heavily inspired by the powerful message of icons like Bob Marley and 2Pac. Gio’s lyrics are one subtle soulful mix of genres. He writes his music with a fearless sense of accidental serendipity, which leads into an energetic and unique style that incorporates world music into a Californian coast feel.
Gio’s first album “Birdfish in Town” was released in 2008 along with his former band project “Birdfish” – debuted Gio as an independent artist in Southern California. The second album “Acoustic Fire” was
released shortly after, including exclusive acoustic songs. The third album “Birdfish – One For All” was
released in 2008. Once digital distribution became the new music industry model, Castilhos focused on producing singles, including the hits “Tic Tac” and “The Way To Go”.
Along with the records, Gio Castilhos became a prominent local artist at local venues in L.A, like the Roxy, Whiskey-GoGo and House of Blues. Among his memorable performances he mention at the U.S Open Of Surfing in Huntington Beach and a past Brazilian Day in L.A. In 2021 he released his full-length album “Sideral” with a social awareness message and bringing the collaboration of many artists and 100% original content. This Brazilian “Gaucho” moved to L.A on 2004 to study International Trade and Commerce at UCLA and have worked at the Los Angeles Brazilian Consulate – @gio.castilhos
