The year of 2019 will be a special year for the SF Pride as the annual event turns 50 and brings extra activities and special performances. The most famous Brazilian drag queen, Pabllo Vittar, grace the SF Pride and will perform on the main stage near by the San Francisco Civic Center. Amara La Negra, international entertainer and latino TV personality is also confirmed for the celebrations that happens on the weekend of June 29 and 30.
The annual event is one of the largest gatherings of the LGBT community and its allies in the nation. In addition to the Parade on Sunday, the two-day weekend celebration in the heart of the city boasts almost one million attendees annually. This festival and rally features a Main Stage with world-class entertainment and thought leaders, at the steps of City Hall.
Additionally, more than 20 community-programmed stages and venues featuring many genres of music, entertainment, and public speakers, like the Don Julio Latin Stage, Soul of Pride Stage, Women’s Stage, the Our Family Coalition LGBTQ Family Garden, Faerie Freedom Village, Indie Oasis, and more. The Celebration also showcases more than 200 exhibitors, food vendors, and refreshments.
Started in 1970, the first San Francisco Pride event was a “Gay-In” held to commemorate the first anniversary ot the stonewall riots and to protest discrimination against the LGBT community. Fifty years later, the struggle for LGBT rights continues. The event is free but donations is suggested. More info: www.sfpride.org
