The 50th Anniversary Swimsuit issue of Sports Illustrated included 18 pages with bombshell models Bregje Heinen, Natasha Barnard and Anne V in Brazil. The location was dunes & lakes of rare beauty: the “Lençóis Maranhenses” – a 600 square-mile national park in Northeastern of Brazil. All the models and part of the Sports Illustrated crew did bring back to U.S locally made hammocks, so they can re-created tropical lounging in their own backwards! The park’s massive sand dunes provide a stunning backdrop and make you feel as if you are in a desert. But, you’re not. The region gets plenty of rain – and the water collects to form lush lagoons that look like oases in the expanse of white sand. The lagoons, which almost completely disappear in the dry season, even have fish – the eggs are brought in from the sea by birds.
Even though of difficult access, as for enjoy the majestic scenery you need take a four-wheeldrive car and drive about 3 hours from the city of Barreirinhas, the visit is worth due the impressive beauty.
While you are at it, you can take a refreshing swim. In the small town of Barreirinhas you can find good infra-structure with local restaurants offering local cuisine (fresh caught fish cooked over coals!) and cozy “Posadas”, and inclusive a resort.
