The “18th Annual Brazilian Carnaval”, the largest Carnaval celebration on the West Coast, will feature Rio samba star, Neguinho da Beija-Flor at Fais Do-Do on February 24th, from 2pm to 2am. Dedicated to the whole family, the party starts with kid’s activities organized by Brazilian Teach & Learn, specialized in teaching Portuguese and the Brazilian culture to kids and teens by using storytelling, traditional games, dance, songs, and arts and crafts. Costumes are encouraged.
First time touring in the U.S., Neguinho is considered one of the most iconic Carnaval performers of Brazil. Since 1976, he has been affiliated with the 12-times parade winner, Beija-Flor de Nilópoles, one of the largest samba schools from Rio de Janeiro. Accompanied by the energetic musicians of Grupo Resenha, a samba band based in California, and by the stunning passistas of LA Samba Dancers, Neguinho da Beija-Flor is sure to bring the true Carnaval spirit to Angelenos of all ages.
Led by LA’s community drumming group, Samba da Mudança, attendees are also invited to join high-energy drum circles sponsored by REMO. Attractions also include DJ Potira, with an eclectic set on different genres of Brazilian music. The celebration continues with authentic Brazilian food and drinks, along with a marketplace at the venue’s patio.
