640px Entrada de JoinvilleJoinville is the largest and richest city of Santa Catarina, but is not the capital of this state. The first inhabitants of Joinville were the native Indians and the Portuguese but soon after came the Germans, Swiss and Norwegians immigrants. Joinville stands out as a strong industrial powerhouse. The business tourism is very strong and in the 90’s the city starts gaining enough prominence in the realization of events.

The city is large and developed but retains characteristics of smaller places. Its people are welcoming and the local scenarios are very green, with vast áreas of Atlantic Forest very well preserved. Known by many with the titles of “The City of Princes” and “The City of Flowers” – the city hosts the annual and famous flower festival. The countryside allows a great variety of experiences, in addition to direct contact with country life.

Besides the industrial vocation, Joinville stands out in the fields of arts and culture. The Joinville Dance Festival also attracts many tourists to the city because it is recognized as the largest in the world in its genre. Among the presentations are the popular dances, classical ballet, tap dance, jazz, among others. Not only that, the city has a branch of the Bolshoi Theater School, the only one outside Russia, which stands out in the formation of dancers and also hosts an instrumental music festival, the Joinville Jazz Festival.Image Travel Joinville Arquitetura Alema 1

Joinville also gathers modern elements to the tradition of the German colonization. The “Estrada Bonita” (Beautiful Road), which as its name proclaims, is a compendium of natural beauty and charm. With its timber framing houses, it looks like a colony of German immigrants of the 19th century. There you will be delighted with a reinforced colonial breakfast (bread, cheeses, pastries, preserves and many other delicacies), in addition to purchasing homemade products such as jellies, liqueurs, and molasses.

The city develops and enables sustainable projects of various types, related to tourism in regions with nature. If you visit the city, not forget to enjoy the scenery from the Mirante do Joinville, located at the highest point of the Morro da Boa Vista, the central region of the city. With 250m of height, the viewing spot offers a view of 360 degrees. There they have a platform of 15m, from where it is impossible not to marvel at the beauties of the city. Definitely an interesting Brazilian city with European influences, particularly German.
